Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Submitted by: Kimmie

So my granddaughter decided that she wanted to make homemade dog treats.  So, off to google I went.  I found this recipe.  I have to say, rolling out the dough was pretty hard.  But the dogs really love them.

Ingredients:

2/3 cup pumpkin puree

1/4 cup peanut butter

2 large eggs

3 cups whole wheat flour, or more as needed

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

In a bowl or electric mixer with paddle attachment, beat pumpkin puree, peanut butter and eggs on medium high until well combined. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups flour at low speed, beating just until incorporated.  Add an additional 1/4 cup flour at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.IMG_3422

Working on a lightly floured surface, need the dough 3-4 times until it comes together.  Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.  Using cookie cutters (we only had Christmas ones), cut out desired shapes and place onto the prepared sheet.IMG_3423

Place in oven and bake until edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.

Let cool completely

You can store these on the counter for a few days or in the frig for a few days longer.  Doesn’t really say exactly how long you can keep them.IMG_3425
