Chili with sausage

1 ½ lbs hot Italian sausage
1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 box Carroll Shelby’s Chili Kit, use seasoning packet and masa
32 oz chili beans
28 oz diced tomatoes
12 oz tomato paste
30 oz chicken broth

Saute onion in small amount of olive oil or butter until translucent. Crumble ground beef and Italian sausage into onions and cook until meat is almost done. Place cooked meat mixture in crock. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours. Serve topped with cheddar cheese and sour cream.
